X-CulT: Virtual Boy Main Page
The VirtualBoy was a console released by Nintendo in 1995 in Japan and North America. Nintendo was happily sailing on the successes of the Super Famicom, so they decided to have a bit of fun and take a shot at a virtual reality console while waiting for the Nintendo 64 to get finished. It was a bust. Nintendo had good intentions, but the Virtualboy's two colors (black and red) and sheer difficulty to use left it on the shelves. Nintendo canceled it the following year. On the technical side, it had a 32-bit RISC processor at 20 MHz, a RTI SLA (P4) for each eye, 16-bit stereo sound, and 320kb of ram in the system pool.
