X-CulT: Gameboy - Gameboy Color Main Page
The Gameboy was a handheld console developed by Nintendo and released in 1989 in Japan and North America, and 1990 in Europe. Nintendo's success in the home market was amazing with the release of their Famicom home gaming system, and, trying to jump into the lives of people on the go, they created the Gameboy. The Gameboy shared a lot of code with the Famicom, going as far as having ports of games such as the MegaMan series, and Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. On the technical side, it has a custom 8-bit Sharp LR35902 at 4.19MHz, 2-bit color abilities, an audio chip with 2 square waves, one 4-bit PCM wave, and white noise capabilities, and 8kb of ram in the system pool.
