The Gameboy Advance was a console developed by Nintendo and released in 2001 in Japan, North America, and Europe. Nintendo was having a very successful time, so they decided it was a good time to make a new handheld. The Gameboy Advance was technically a 32-bit console, but it was on the same operating level as the Super Famicom, thus a lot of games for it are ports of Super Famicom games or use the same engine as them. Some examples are the Super Mario Advance series, Metroid Fusion, and Mario Kart Super Circut On the technical side, it had a 32-bit ARM7TDMI with embedded memory at 16.8 MHz, 15-bit RGB colorspace, a 4-8MHz Z80 cpu for Gameboy and Gameboy color compatibility, and 384 MB of ram in the system pool.
