X-CulT: Microsoft Windows > Fallout 3: Van Buren > General
Overview

Not to be confused with the Bethesda's version of Fallout 3, the Van Buren project was the true sequel to Fallout 2. It was being developed by Black Isle Studios, which was owned by Interplay Entertainment. When Interplay went bankrupt, Black Isle Studios was closed and the project canceled. Fallout 3 was to be centered around Utah and Colorado, but it also would have included areas of neighboring states. The player would be able to visit places such as Hoover Dam, Denver, Mesa Verde, and the Grand Canyon.

In May of 2007, a playable tech demo of the Van Buren project was released by former members of Black Isle Studios. Way before even beta, this was to showcase the upgraded Fallout 2 engine and is buggy, but gives an idea to how the game was supposed to be like.
