~Bonnou Kaihou~, the Playstation 2 port of Matrimelee, got plenty of modifications during its developement cycle. In fact, the very first versions were nothing more then just the Neogeo original version with one or two added characters! Here are some of the many screenshots released by Excite during developement.

The game is the exact same as the neogeo version, as far as looks go... But, Otane has her transformation. Curiously, her name is spelled as "Otane" instead of just "Tane". Possibly a mockup.

The game still looks like the Neogeo version. Buffed-up (normal) form of Kanji is added.

Bobby Ologun artwork revealed. Interestingly, this was NOT used in-game, although it appears in the introduction video.

Now we're talking. The game now runs in high resolution. New hires HUD added. Hit sparks are now 3d effects, but they are used scarcely (in the final, even the more powerful punches such as the cane hits by Hikaru have effects). Olof has his Grey suit artwork with eyemask.

Title Screen and card collection screens. The title screen has 2005 in the final while 2006 in the above shot. The cards are marked with numbers in the final, and you don't have any area with so many Keith cards. There are no ways of getting a single numeral points in the game, making the 256 points in the picture an impossibility to achieve. The circle/triangle/X/square icons are colored in the final. The mugshots for Kanji, Reiji and Hikaru are low-res (which makes no sense as his mugshot is hires in the 2005/11/17 screenshots, see above. Possibly mockup pictures). At around this time, the game was delayed from the original 2006/02/23 release date to 2006/05/25, the official word being "to be able to reassure the quality of the product". At around the same time again, Bobby Ologun caught a little media attention for beatin up his sponsor who didnt pay him.
Various other shots
Bo-bbeam!! The 2 level super move of Bobby Ologun. This shot still has the old HUD and the background DOESNT change into to washed-up version when executing a 2 level super in the final version. Unlike the Neogeo original, where it does.

Clara in the middle of her transformation to Super Clara.
Old HUD. Kintaro has his older artwork.

Old HUD. The special effect when doing a Super move is slightly different in the final.
Character select screen. In the final, you have your characters portrait, instead of their standing sprite. Note: screenshots with the final HUD were first seen at 2006/04/28.
